Facilities

Our impressive facilities include a large hall used for PE, assemblies, concerts and school lunches. Children’s learning and engagement is furthered by our school library which is a beautiful, bright space where children can learn valuable research skills and develop their love of reading. This space is also used as a music room and children have access to a range of instruments and space in which to move and play them.

The ICT suite is well equipped to allow up to 12 children individual access to learn and practise IT skills such as mouse control, cutting and pasting, e-mail and internet use. Children are taught to understand how to use computers safely, particularly when using the internet, through a programme that runs regularly for all year groups. This is complemented by computers and an interactive whiteboard in every classroom. We also have 30 iPads in the school so all the children in a class can use the technology at the same time, and we regularly update the learning Apps available to the children to ensure the best experience.

Children love to cook and they have their own well-resourced children’s kitchen to use.

Outside there is a large playground with plenty of marking and equipment to stimulate play. Children are encouraged to learn playground games and we have a rota of different equipment to be used at lunchtimes. A large team of midday supervisors care for the children and get involved in their playground games. This is an energising place for the children to learn or take time out. There are zones for active play and group games, wooden adventure play areas, a decking area and gazebo for quiet play and friendship benches to help children make new friends.

Early Years children have their own secure, well equipped and covered playground and outside learning space.

Our outside classroom and adjoining wildlife area are used to enrich learning across the curriculum. We use it for class activities and the children help to cultivate the plants and maintain the gardens. In warmer weather, it is the venue for some school performances and assemblies. We also have a den building area and mud kitchen which the children enjoy at all times of year.

We also have a large school field which is shared with Hammond School. We use this for outside learning, playtime, sports and our annual Summer Fete.
