Winchester Science Centre.

As a culmination of a very exciting space themed term year one made their trip to Winchester Science Centre on Friday 4th December and great fun was had by all.  The day started with a self-directed tour of the many interactive science exhibits.  From understanding the effects of friction on movement to using parts of the body as a battery the children participated with both enthusiasm and understanding.  This session was followed by an exciting trip to the planetarium where the children consolidated their learning about the planets and solar system through participation and interaction.  They also learned about the naming of the formation of stars and the Greek gods they were named after.  The most important part of the day followed – Lunch!  The children then excitedly continued their investigation of the exhibits throughout the museum.  Some taking part in computer linked activities that really explained, on a child friendly level, how things worked.  The children then reluctantly returned to school talking excitedly about their great day.
